A coffee war is on and it looks like McDonald's has landed a big "shot"!
In their battle with Starbucks for the specialty coffee trade, McDonald's has launched unsnobbycoffee.com The site targets Washington State, including Seattle, Starbucks' headquarters city, with a printable coupon for a free espresso drink at any participating McCafe.
Even though there are no McCafes (in-store or stand-alone) in WNC yet and we can't benefit from the free espresso drink coupon, we can go to the unsnobby site for a chuckle playing "HotShot Pinball" or click on "Intervention" to fill in the note's blanks with provided phrases and send it to a friend you'd like to save from overconsumption of snobby coffee.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against Starbucks and buy lattes from them occasionally, especially if I'm somewhere unfamiliar and can't find an independent coffee house.
A sense of humor goes a long way with me. Chalk one up for McDonald's.
